Privacy

The short version

Your diary is yours. It lives in a local database on your machine, and nothing is uploaded by default. The only time anything leaves your computer is if you turn on AI summaries and choose a cloud provider — and even then, you can keep everything local with Ollama or LM Studio.

What the app stores locally

Everything is stored in one folder in your OS app-data directory:

• Windows: %APPDATA%\day.gitpaw\
• macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/day.gitpaw/
• Linux: ~/.local/share/day.gitpaw/

That folder holds diary.db (a SQLite file), an images/ folder and config.json. It records the sessions you worked on, the agents and models used, token counts, durations, and your local Git commit history.

Optional AI summaries (off by default)

AI is optional and stays off until you turn it on. When enabled, you choose the provider: a local model via Ollama or LM Studio (data never leaves your machine), or your own API key for Groq, Claude, OpenAI or DeepSeek. Only the summary request is sent to the provider you pick — nothing else.

Website analytics

This website uses no third-party trackers and runs no analytics scripts. We simply don't have any.
